Gastropoid's Invertebrate Foods
This has been a research project of mine for at least a decade.
And now, Gastropoid's Invertebrate Foods are a reality!
There's three finely powdered formulas to start things off, but more will be added.
Farmer's Market
The fruits and veggies blend. My Hissers go wild for this blend, in addition to all the usual expected Isopods, Millipedes and Snails.
Ingredients:
Spinach, Collagen Powder, Green Pea, Pumpkin, Apple, Carrot, Freshwater Chlorella Algae, Shiitake Mushrooms, Brewer's Yeast, Orange Sweet Potato, Bee Pollen, Spirulina, Cucumber
Butcher's Best
This is my protein blend. When made into a gel food, it's ideal for carnivorous snail species. Both my aquatic assassins and my terrestrial Rosy Wolfsnails devour this mix readily. Also great for protein-hungry isopods and roaches.
Ingredients:
Mealworms, Freeze Dried Beef Liver, Freeze Dried Chicken Liver, Brine Shrimp, Freshwater Shrimp, Cellulose Powder, Green Pea Protein, Crickets, Brewer's Yeast, Shiitake Mushrooms
Pumpkin Spice
Color boosting isopod blend. I also recommend this mix combined with Farmer's Market for filter feeding Viviparidae aquatic snails such as Blueberry Snails.
Ingredients:
Paprika, Carrot, Pumpkin, Orange Sweet Potato, Apple, Green Pea, Bee Pollen, Collagen Powder, Brewer's Yeast, Freshwater Chlorella Algae, Saffron
These formulas are intended for inverts including both terrestrial and aquatic snails, isopods, millipedes, roaches and freshwater shrimp, but these will also work great for fish fry.
Can be mixed with gelatin or agar to make gel/jelly/snello type foods.
Will add calcium carbonate powder to the mix on request and include a pouch of agar for no extra charge if using for aquatic snails.
Note for isopod and detritivore keepers:
Detritivores need large amounts of cellulose in their diets. This is what they get from rotting wood in the wild.
If you are currently feeding Repashy's Morning Wood formula instead of providing rotwood or flake soil, you cannot substitute my current formulas for that. Morning Wood is mostly a very expensive way to give your detritivores what they should be getting from rotting wood in their habitat.
My formulas are equivalent to adding protein, fruits and vegetables to supplement a substrate that provides the basic nutrition they need. If you're currently feeding fish flakes, be sure to include my Butcher's Best in your mix to make up the protein needed.
I will be making a detritivore formula in the future, but I strongly recommend not relying on supplementary foods to provide basic dietary needs for detritivores unless you are using them as CUC in a situation where rotwood or flake soil cannot be included in the enclosure for the safety of other occupants.
1oz volume for the small, 2oz or 4oz bigger packs.
$4/$8/$15 +$5 shipping.
